Cosmetic Dentistry: A Little Goes A Long Way [BLOG]April 21st, 2017
Everyone deserves a smile they feel good about. After all, it’s one of the first things people notice about you. In today’s tech savvy culture, with selfies and social media on our constant radar, your smile is faced with a steady spotlight you can’t seem to avoid even if you tried!
So if you’re embarrassed about your smile, it can feel pretty isolating. You’re surrounded by people who seem completely unaffected by the endless opportunities to put themselves out there for all the world to see. All it takes is a simple click here, a little share there, and suddenly we’re the star of our own reality TV show.
If your teeth are stained, chipped, gapped, or even missing, you’re not going to participate in that culture. You’re going to hide. And when you feel like hiding your smile because of those flaws and imperfections, you feel left out. You feel like everyone received an invitation to the party but you!
At Ascension Premier Dental, we don’t want you to feel that way. In fact, we know you don’t even have to feel that way. With advances in dental technology in recent years, there are way too many options in cosmetic dentistry available to allow yourself to go through life on the sidelines. Dr. Bessonet and our skilled team are here to help you join the party!
Today, we’re talking about three simple cosmetic procedures you might want to consider if you’re looking to improve the appearance of your smile and boost your self-confidence. With these options, a little bit goes a long way!
Option #1: Tooth Contouring / Crown Lengthening
Here is a quick, easy way to beautify your smile. Tooth contouring and crown lengthening are relatively conservative procedures that involve adjusting your gums and/or shaping your tooth enamel to help give your smile a more balanced, uniformed look. This is great if you have teeth that vary in length or shape, especially in the front. You can enjoy a more attractive smile without having to rely on longer, more complicated treatments or procedures.
Option #2: Gum Reshaping / Gummy Smile Treatment
If you already have a fairly symmetrical smile in terms of the shape of your teeth but just aren’t satisfied with the proportion of your gums and teeth, gum reshaping might be a viable option for you. With this procedure, Dr. Bessonet carefully and gently removes any excess gum tissue you may have in order to make your teeth appear a bit longer and, thus, making your smile more proportional. One of the ways we’re able to accomplish this is through the use of laser technology, which makes the procedure virtually painless.
Although, if you’re someone who suffers from dental anxiety, we encourage you to ask about our sedation options. Dr. Bessonet is a highly trained professional who has the experience and skill to make sure you receive just the right level of sedation to make your treatment stress-free and pain-free. All you have to do is ask!
Option #3: Tooth Bonding
As the name would suggest, tooth bonding ‘bonds’ a resin material to your tooth that Dr. Bessonet will then shape and mold until the desired look is achieved. The resin is also matched to the rest of your natural teeth, which helps maintain a nice balanced color to your smile.
Tooth bonding can brighten your smile and correct minor issues like smalls gaps or a chipped tooth. It’s also a less expensive option than something like veneers.
