How You Can Get Started On Your New SmileOctober 16th, 2016
Straight teeth make smiles look nicer. Just ask George Clooney, Julia Roberts, or any of the other countless actors whose faces you’ve seen in celebrity magazines and on the big screen.
You can have that kind of smile, too, with cosmetic dentistry like the orthodontics at our dentist office in Geismar, LA.
We offer both traditional and short-term orthodontic options at Ascension Premier Dental. If you schedule a consultation, we can help you find the option that will work best for your smile.
Speed Is Key: Six Month Braces
We know there are adults who are interested in making their smiles look nicer. Many of those adults understand that orthodontic treatment will be the most effective to change their smiles.
Yet, a lot of those adults aren’t really interested in wearing braces for any longer than necessary. Treatments can last two years or more with traditional braces, and many adults won’t begin the treatment if they know it means have brackets and wires on their teeth for that long.
That changes when people find out they can achieve cosmetic improvements to their smile in about one-quarter of the time the would wear traditional braces.
With PowerProx Six Month Braces, our dentist, Dr. Bessonet can help you transform your teeth in (you guessed it) about six months. This system uses a special hi-tech archwire with “shape memory.”
This archwire naturally returns to its original shape. When it’s fed into the brackets of your six month braces, that movement moves your teeth into straight positions as well.
Undercover Orthodontics: Invisalign
Do you like spy movies? They can be entertaining to watch, and the suspense can keep you glued to your seat.
With Invisalign®, you have a way to keep your orthodontic treatment a secret. The staff at Ascension Premier Dental will like the technical crew providing support as you complete your mission.
OK, maybe orthodontic treatment isn’t as exciting as watching James Bond track down a villain, but the results — a beautiful, straight smile — can be even more rewarding in the end.
Unlike braces, Invisalign does not use wires and brackets to move your teeth. Instead, you will wear a series of clear, plastic aligners. Note the emphasis on clear.
These transparent aligners are worn over your teeth. They blend in so smoothly with your smile that most people won’t notice that you have anything on your teeth.
As far as time, there are two factors to consider. With Invisalign, you will need to wear your aligners most of the time, although you can remove them during meals and during your regular dental hygiene routine.
This also means you won’t have to give up any of your favorite foods, which is a real possibility with braces.
With regard to the total treatment, the average Invisalign patient can complete his or her treatment in about 12 months, which is about half the time as traditional braces.
Evaluating Your Options
The most important thing with any orthodontic treatment is the final result. Will you be happy with your new smile?
This is why talking to Dr. Bessonet is an essential before you begin any treatment. He is not going to recommend any treatment unless he is confident that it will be able to address the alignment issues you want to be fixed.
Since he graduated from the LSU School of Dentistry in 2003, he has completed more than 100 hours of continuing education annually. That included some specific training on Invisalign.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Bessonet can examine your teeth and jaw positions. You can discuss what is most important in your treatment (final result, time involved, how discreet the treatment is).
With his knowledge, he can let you know which orthodontic options can correct the misalignment in your smile. Recommending a treatment that won’t work will leave everyone feeling disappointed.
What we want for you is a feeling of joy and the confidence that comes with having a beautiful smile. To give you an idea what kinds of results are possible, take a moment to look at our smile gallery.
