Tips for Choosing the Right Dentist
Choosing the right dentist for your family is an important decision. This is going to be the person responsible for the oral health of you and your entire family, including your children. We all know that kids are not the best about taking care of their teeth in the first place. This makes your choice even more important. Here are some tips for choosing the correct dentist for your family.
Tip #1 – The first thing to do is check the dentist’s patient satisfaction. Dr. Bessonet has a page dedicated to the experiences our patients have had at Ascension Premier Dental. This offers you the chance to hear from your friends and neighbors regarding how Dr. Bessonet treats his patients. You will see what Dr. Bessonet’s demeanor is like, the condition of our dental office, and more. Check out our Patient Testimonials page and see what our patients are saying.
Tip #2 – Make sure the dentist you choose is a member of local, state, or national dental associations. Dentists must complete an immense amount of training outside of dental school to become a member of these organizations. Dr. Bessonet is a recognized member of the American Dental Association and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, as well as other organizations. He even completes more than 100 hours of continuing dental education each year.
Tip #3 – Finding out what types of dental services a dentist offers is important to consider. Some dentists perform some procedures and not others. Knowing the availability and scope of the practice is a must when choosing a new dentist.
Tip #4– Ask the dentist what procedures performs at his office. Dr. Bessonet performs all procedures in-house, which can be amazingly convenient, while other dentists will send you to specialists for many procedures. Having everything done under the same roof is a really nice benefit, especially for busy families.
Tip #5 – Take a tour of the office before choosing a dentist. This will give you the opportunity to make an assessment of its condition. You will get a chance to see if the equipment being used is old or out of date. Choosing a dentist who is using new, hi-tech, and clean equipment assures you that your dentist is going to provide you with a high level of care.
Tip #6 – Make sure to ask about the payment and insurance options available at the practice. If insurance does not cover a procedure, it is important to know what other financing options may be available to you.
