Oral surgery can range from having a simple wisdom tooth extraction, to impacted wisdom teeth, to dental implants, to bone graft, to soft tissue grafting.
When I say soft tissue grafting, I mean some people's gum levels have receded. They're showing a lot of tooth. They're sensitive. Their teeth are getting this long. A lot of times they don't realize that we can do what's called a gum lift on them, and we can raise that tissue back over to cover the gums to stop the sensitivity and stop the destruction.
With impacted wisdom teeth, a lot of people need to have that done when they're ... They're a liability. Impacted wisdom teeth growing into your good teeth can create cavities in places we can't fix them. They can also create cysts, tumors around them. It's important to get those out if they're going to be a potential issue. We like to take them out when people are teenagers, but if it doesn't happen for that patient, and they're an adult, they still need them out, we offer that procedure in house. We always offer IV sedation in conjunction with that, because most people, going through surgery awake us just not an ideal proposition. To be able to sleep through it, and wake up and have it done, patients seem to be really satisfied with that option.

Wisdom Tooth Removal Services
Are you in need of a wisdom tooth extraction? We offer comprehensive tooth removal services, including wisdom teeth (third molars). Wisdom teeth often need to be removed due to impaction, infection, orthodontic issues, and various other problems. Dr. Bessonet and our talented dental team is able to gently perform the necessary procedure while maintaining your comfort with local anesthetics and dental sedation right here in our Geismar, LA dental office.
Do you need a sinus lift? When placing dental implants, sinus lifts are sometimes needed because there is not enough bone in the upper jaw, between the mouth and the sinus cavity. We remedy this problem by “lifting” the sinuses and adding bone to allow for dental implants to be properly and security placed. Unlike many dental offices, we can offer this procedure right here in our Geismar, LA office. We will not make you travel across town to a different office!
Have you lost bone due to periodontal disease? We have the tools and technology right here to offer you the bone grafting services you need. If you are not eligible for dental implants due to a loss of jawbone structure, this service may be just right for you. We can build up the bone in the areas needed for secure implant placement. Talk to our team to determine if a bone graft can help you achieve the smile of your dreams.
Have you experienced receding gums due to periodontal disease, or have lost gum tissue for any other reason? We offer gum grafting procedures that can help restore your appearance and protect the sensitive parts of your teeth. Our team can help you achieve the grafting procedure you need to look and feel your best.
Ridge augmentation can be required for a variety of reasons. We often use it to help patients feel more comfortable with a restoration. It is not uncommon that a denture or other restoration does not fit correctly due to a protruding ridge along the jawbone or the roof of the mouth. These ridges may also need to be rebuilt due to bone deterioration. This procedure allows us to change the ridge and gums to ensure a better fit. If this is a concern for you, please speak to our team.
